OFIVE : Ta première claque musicale ? // Your first musical slap ?
PLK : Henri Salvador et son morceau « Jardin d’hiver ». Ma mère me faisait écouter ça quand j’étais encore dans son ventre, puis quand j’étais tout petit dans ma chambre pour me calmer car j’étais un bébé agité. J’ai des sensations chelou, des souvenirs qui reviennent quand j’écoute ça. // Henri Salvador and his track « Jardin d’hiver ». My mother used to make me listen to it when I was still in her womb, then when I was very small in my room to calm me down because I was a restless baby. I have weird sensations, memories that come back when I listen to this.
OFIVE : La première personne déterminante pour l’artiste que tu es aujourd’hui ? // The first determining person for the artist you are today ?
PLK : Fonky Flav, mon manager. Je l’ai rencontré très jeune, c’était juste un ami à la base mais voilà où on en est grâce à lui, avec d’autres artistes. // Fonky Flav, my manager. I met him when I was very young, he was just a friend at the beginning but here we are thanks to him, with other artists.
OFIVE : Ta première scène ? // Your first concert ?
PLK : C’était pour la fête de la musique dans le 14ème arrondissement, à la cité du Moulin-de-la-Vierge. C’était laborieux. // It was for the music day in the 14th arrondissement, in the hood of Moulin-de-la-Vierge. It was laborious.
OFIVE : La première certification importante à tes yeux ? // The first certification that is important to you ?
PLK : Le disque d’or pour mon premier album « Polak ». Premier album, premier disque d’or : la seule et unique certification qui compte. C’était énorme. Le reste est moins important. // The gold record for my first album « Polak ». First album, first gold record : the one and only certification that counts. It was huge. The rest is less important.
OFIVE : Ton premier crush sur une célébrité ? // Your first crush on a celebrity ?
PLK : J’ai eu cette conversation récemment avec quelqu’un et j’avais déjà du mal à trouver une réponse, à identifier LA meuf. Plus jeune je ne m’en rappelle plus, j’étais pas vraiment à propos de ça quand j’étais petit, le seul souvenir date de 2 ans, c’est Raquel dans la Casa de Papel. // I had this conversation recently with someone and I was already having trouble finding an answer, identifying THE chick. When I was younger I don’t remember, I wasn’t really about that when I was little, the only memory I have is Raquel in the Casa de Papel.
OFIVE : Ta première grosse dépense ? // Your first big expense ?
PLK : Ma première voiture à 16 ans, achetée 400 euros, la première Polo qui existait. Elle n’avait même pas de 5ème vitesse, la boîte était cassée. // My first car at 16 years old, bought 400 euros, the first Polo that existed. It didn’t even have a 5th gear, the gearbox was broken.
OFIVE : Ta première embrouille ? // Your first fight ?
PLK : Au quartier, au collège, en sixième, il y avait une guerre 14ème contre 13ème arrondissement. On s’attendait devant le collège, c’était toujours le bordel. // In the neighborhood, in the sixth grade, there was a war between the 14th and 13th districts. We were waiting in front of the college, it was always a mess.
OFIVE : La première chose à laquelle tu penses le matin ? // The first thing you think about in the morning ?
PLK : La musique et toute ma réflexion autour. Faire du son, réfléchir à des instrus, à un flow, à un refrain particulier, à faire un feat… La musique en général. // Music and all my reflection around it. To make tracks, to think about instrumentals, a flow, a particular chorus, to make a collaboration… Music in general.
OFIVE : Tes premières vacances entre potes ? // Your first buddy vacation ?
PLK : J’avais 17 ans, un pote avait une maison de famille dans le sud. J’étais le plus jeune de l’équipe. Les journées c’était boire et se baigner, la base des vacances. // I was 17 years old, a buddy of mine had a family home in the south. I was the youngest of the team. The days were drinking and swimming, the basis of the vacations.
OFIVE : Ta première addiction ? // Your first addiction ?
PLK : Encore une fois et très sincèrement, la musique. Faire de la musique, même à 12/13 ans j’étais à fond là-dedans. Fabriquer et concevoir des morceaux. // Once again and very sincerely, music. Making music, even at 12/13 years old I was into it. Making and designing songs.
OFIVE : Le premier film qui t’a marqué ? // The first movie that made an impression on you?
PLK : « La Haine », un des premiers et seuls films que j’ai regardé d’une traite et que j’ai kiffé alors que j’ai un gros problème de concentration et que je n’ai pas du voir plus de 10 films dans ma vie. J’avais même fait un examen d’Histoire des Arts sur ça en troisième, même si je n’ai pas eu mon brevet. // « La Haine », one of the first and only movies I watched in one go and loved, even though I have a big problem of concentration and I haven’t seen more than 10 movies in my life. I even took a History of Arts exam on that in ninth grade, even though I didn’t get my diploma.
OFIVE : Le premier livre qui t’a marqué ? // The first book that made an impression on you?
PLK : Le seul que j’ai lu : « Le Petit Prince ». // The only one I read: « The Little Prince ».
OFIVE : Ton premier confinement ? // Your first quarantine ?
PLK : C’était bien même si en tant qu’artiste, on est un peu confinés toute l’année. J’ai beaucoup travaillé, j’ai ramené le studio dans ma chambre, j’ai pas vraiment vu le temps passer. // It was good even if as an artist, we are a bit confined all year round. I worked a lot, I brought the studio back to my room, I didn’t really see the time go by.
