Si les superstars et les vétérans de la ligue se préparent sereinement, place à la nouvelle génération de basketteurs. Entre les nouveaux rookies et les potentiels All Stars, sans oublier les probables MVP de la saison, la grande ligue semble entrer dans un nouveau chapitre. Et pour cause, l’ère de LeBron James (36 ans), Kevin Durant et Stephen Curry (32 ans) commence à amorcer son épilogue. Et la nouvelle génération ne manque pas d’ambition. Il aura du temps de jeu dans le cinq de départ de Ryan Saunders et s’il atteint ses objectifs, pourrait vivre sa première post-season. N’oublions pas le rookie LaMelo Ball, meneur des Charlotte Hornets. Joueur pro en Australie l’année dernière, le frangin de Lonzo montre une certaine maturité dans son jeu. Vista, sens de la passe inné et habitué du pick and roll, Ball va mettre de la lumière sur la franchise de Caroline du Nord. Potentiel numéro 1 de draft, Ball atterrit dans la franchise de Michael Jordan. L’Ailier fort présente un profil unique dans la NBA. Véloce, technique et explosif, l’ancien de Duke peut aspirer à être l’un des visages de la ligue. Gêné par les blessures et limité durant sa saison rookie, Williamson va pouvoir exprimer son plein potentiel cette année. Dans son équipe, les New Orleans Pelicans, « Zanos » joue aux cotés de Brandon Ingram, All Star la saison dernière. Le binôme devra faire survivre la franchise dans l’impitoyable conférence ouest. Une mission qui s’annonce délicate au vu de la concurrence. Et la finale NBA est en ligne de mire. D’un point de vue individuel, Brown doit entrer dans la conversation pour le All Star Game. Pour Tatum, c’est carrément le trophée de MVP que l’ailier doit avoir en tête. Technique, polyvalent, complet, l’ancien joueur du Real Madrid est devenu l’enfant chéri de la ville. Alors qu’il vient de connaitre ses premières playoffs face aux Clippers, le playmaker des Mavs va vouloir plus qu’un premier tour. Dans un été où il a vu arriver Josh Richardson ou encore James Johnson, Dončić s’aperçoit que son équipe se renforce. Conséquence, le slovène peut clairement postuler au titre de MVP. Giannis en quête d’un triplé historique, Dončić se présente comme une alternative crédible. Il faudra que son lieutenant, le letton Kristaps Porzingis soit remis de ses blessures. Dans la conférence ouest, les Mavs peuvent prétendre au Top 6.
